FRequently Asked Questions

  • Not at all. If you can walk/run or prefer to jog than run, you’re welcome. We’re not competitive, have 3 paced groups to suit you, and it’s totally fine to take it at your own pace. We’re here to encourage you, not race you.

  • It’s completely free to join! There’s no membership fee, no hidden costs - just bring yourself, your running shoes, and good vibes. You’ll only need money if you want a drink at the pub after.

  • Of course, you’re welcome to pop in and out of the run club whenever you like! Some of our regulars have been coming every week since the beginning, and we have plenty of new runners and one-timers too. There’s no pressure here.

  • Nope! Just turn up. We’re a super casual, drop-in kind of club. If it’s your first time, try to arrive a few minutes early so we can say hi and help you find the right pace group.

  • We run in three paced groups — typically fast (sub 25 mins), medium (30-35 mins), and social pace (walk/run). Whether you're a regular runner or just easing in, there's a group for you. No one runs alone, and no one gets left behind!

  • We have new runners join us pretty much every week and you’ll be made to feel welcome right away! We like to consider ourselves the friendliest run club in Kingston so even if you don’t know anyone, you will make friends right away.

  • Our run starts with a warmup at The Grove in Surbiton. We then head down to Kingston riverside towards Kingston town center, (which is stunning in summer/sunset.)

We will turn around either in Canbury Gardens or Kingston Market Place before heading back up the river to finish at the pub where we started.

  • “When I first joined the Pub Run Club, I honestly dreaded it. I wasn’t a runner, and the idea of showing up felt intimidating. But week by week, it got easier and something unexpected happened. I started to feel better, not just physically but mentally. The runs, the people, the routine it gave me something to look forward to. Now, it’s one of the highlights of my week. It’s more than just running, it’s community and support.”

The guys and girls at the Pub Run Club have something truly amazing. Would highly recommend anyone joining whether you’re a pro or just starting out, you will be made to feel very welcome.”

Since joining, I've met some of my favourite people and made so many local friends, all thanks to The Pub Run Club. I couldn't be more grateful for such a lovely bunch of people that were welcoming from run one."

  • "Run to your favourite tunes, crush 5k, then relax with your friends over a well-earned drink. What's not to love! It’s about showing up each week and pushing yourself first to run the distance, then to beat your own time. Good music, good company, and a cold pint at the finish line"

    ~ Alex

  • “Pub Run Club has become what I look forward to every Thursday! It’s a great motivator to get out for a run every week, even when it’s cold & dark in the winter. And there’s always a mix of fab tunes to boogie along the riverside. I’ve been going for over a year and it’s been a fab way to meet new local pals and be part of a positive & welcoming community”

    ~ Imogen

  • “I’ve been going to the pub run club since summer 2024 - although the club continues to get bigger & bigger as time goes on, Chris the founder always makes everyone feel welcome (new & old) taking time to chat and check in with people. In fact everyone who runs with the club is welcoming, whatever your running ability, age or background.”

    ~ Sally
